This August, Get Your SPIN On

Applications are now being accepted for the 13th Annual SPIN Academy, hosted by The SPIN Project in Petaluma, CA, from August 23-26, 2011 (deadline to apply is June 17).  The SPIN Project helps nonprofit social justice organizations get their voices heard in today’s crowded media environment through effective strategic communications.  This is the kind of thing we can never be too good at!

If you are a nonprofit communicator or an advocate working to raise public awareness, the SPIN Academy is a terrific opportunity to sharpen your skills and expand your network.  This four-day residential retreat combines intensive communications training, one-on-one coaching with communications consultants, and collaboration with other social activists at Walker Creek Ranch.  Key skills you will develop include:

·
         strategic communications planning

·         message development

·         branding

·         social media

·         strategic storytelling

. . . and more!  Submit your application online or check out The SPIN Project’s website for participant information, a list of SPIN Academy alumni, and a schedule of events.

P.S. Can’t attend?  SPIN’s resources page is a great place to connect with other nonprofit communicators, find tools to build your strategic communications plan, and search for communications jobs or consultants across the country.
